Red Meadows Framed Etching captures the changing colours of the landscape through vibrant colours and etched lines. The hand made print features dramatic swathes of orange and green alongside bursts of red to create a dynamic original artwork.
Etching is a printmaking technique that uses a chemical process to produce etched lines in a metal printing plate which will hold applied ink and then form an image. Like engraving, etching is an intaglio technique. Intaglio refers to all printmaking techniques that involve making marks or incisions into a plate or print surface which hold the ink.
Louise uses vivid colour as an intuitive response to landscape. Her technique involves using deep velvety tones that contrast with delicate, spontaneous etched lines. Her prints and paintings are primarily concerned with the landscape. Some are based on childhood memories, reflecting on the countryside and coast where she spent her early childhood.
