Charlotte Viles

Charlotte Viles is an artist based in Perranporth, Cornwall. Her work is inspired by the Cornish coast, capturing the changing atmosphere and light across the land and sea. Charlotte’s paintings connect the viewer to the feel of the landscape, often using subtle paint colours to capture reflections, sunsets and sweeping clouds. Alongside her paintings Charlotte’s prints offer an alternative twist on the coastal theme. Her prints are paired back and use complimentary colours to create a fresh contemporary feel.

Charlotte studied Fine Art at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design graduating in 2000. She then moved to Cornwall in 2004. Charlotte has always been drawn to the water with swimming, surfing and paddle boarding her favourite things to do. These activities are often reflected in her work. She enjoys immersing herself in the seascape where the skyline partners the ocean and the colours intertwine in the reflections. Charlotte uses layers of paint to create the environment in its simplest of forms, filled with natural warmth and colour all inspired by Cornwall’s beautiful landscape.
