Description

High Tide at Chapel Rock is an Original Acrylic Bellyboard Painting by Joy Clifton.  After last year’s successful exhibition Joy Clifton is back with three new hand painted bellyboards. These exclusive new boards explore the tidal change at Perranporth Beach and show how we interact with the sea and coast at different times of the day.

High Tide at Chapel Rock features a birds eye view looking down on Perranporth Beach. Capturing the golden sands of the beach and the beautiful blue waves as they lap around Chapel Rock. Plywood bellyboard measures 120cm x 30cm x 0.9cm. Signed and dated by the artist on the back. Includes Dick Pearce Wall Mounted Bellyboard Rack.

Joy was part of The Surf Wood for Good charity auction in 2022 raising vital funds for Surfers Against Sewage‘s Ocean Activism. Joy painted her first wooden bellyboard for this fundraiser with the board proving very popular and sold quickly. Surf Wood for Good offers free wooden belly board hire as a positive alternative to cheap, environmentally-toxic polystyrene bodyboards that are so often discarded on beaches around the country.

Joy loved using the boards as an alternative canvas and has now released a brand new one of a kind bellyboard celebrating the beautiful beach at Perranporth, Cornwall. Capturing the view from above Chapel Rock as the tide rolls in around the shore. Take time to spot the families and surfers enjoying the sun and waves. This is a truly unique piece of original art.

Joy Clifton is a visual artist, who captures the fluidity of the ocean realm focusing on the movement of water, abstraction of light and exploring the sea creatures that inhabit this beautiful world. Having spent many years living by the ocean and travelling the world she draws on this inspiration. In her work there is an echo of conservation and she addresses current issues that are affecting the natural world. Joy works primarily in watercolour and acrylics depending on the subject matter.
